The history of the Schaeben family
The history of the Schaeben family can be traced back to the 16th century. The Schaeben family was a long-established family living in and around Cologne, which had been excelling as the churchmaster of Sankt Maria Ablaß and as a distiller of Cologne in the House of Sternenberg since 1722. This proficiency was passed on and deepened from generation to generation.
Mr. Wilhelm Schaeben established the House of Schaeben in 1933 on the square in direct proximity to the famous Cologne Cathedral.

A. Moras & Comp. is the House of Schaeben’s sister company. It was established in 1832 by Mr. Theobald Cesar August Moras, inventor and manufacturer of the famous Cologne Hair Tonic (Kölnisch Haarwasser). For many decades, A. Moras & Comp. was the court supplier of the Duke of Hohenzollern and, according to our knowledge, is the oldest hair tonic company in the world. It continues to manufacture today.
