Which masks are especially well-suited for impure skin?
Masks containing anti-bacterial ingredients such as tea tree oil or salicylic acids (as in Schaebens Anti-Spot Mask, for example) counteract pimples and skin impurities.  Masks containing Dead Sea mud are also reliable helpers against pimples, blackheads and skin impurities.   After using a mask, treat your skin with a facial toner and apply an non-comedogenic facial cream (creams that do not contribute to the formation of blackheads or pimples).  Peeling masks are also recommended as they deeply cleanse the skin’s pores.
What types of products are available for the area around the eyes?
A variety of special formulations  for the sensitive skin around the eyes (such as Schaebens Eye Contour Mask, Schaebens Eye Contour Concentrate) are currently available. Both masks and concentrates are particularly well-suited to beautify eye contours without irritating them.
What is the best age to begin using Anti-Aging products?
As early as your mid 20s, the skin gradually loses it ability to store moisture. The production of collagen and elastin slows down. The skin loses its firmness and elasticity.  The first fine lines begin to form.  Approximately from the age of 30 onwards, one can start using a purpose-made anti-wrinkle skin care (such as Schaebens Anti-Wrinkle Concentrate, or Schaebens Mature Skin Concentrate), to prevent premature skin-aging and to fight the effects of harmful environmental irritants.
When is it best to use a moisturising skin care treatment?
Even young skin requires moisture. That’s why a hydrating cosmetic product is indispensable for your daily skin care. It regulates the skin’s hydration balance and makes the complexion feel soft and smooth. Masks and concentrates provide an extra helping of skin care and moisture (such as Schaebens Moisturising Mask or Schaebens Moisturising Concentrate).
A moisturising skin care treatment also provides relief for seasonal dry skin conditions. Particularly during the cold winter months, exposure to dry air from heaters and frequent changes between warm air and cold air strain the skin, which becomes dry or tense as a result. Special moisturising products compensate for this lack of hydration, and the skin remains supple and smooth.
When do I need to use a facial scrub?
Facial scrubs can leave pale and sallow skin looking brand new by deeply toning the pores.  Scrubs also help care for  impure skin and clogged pores. When gently massaged on the skin’s surface, the scrub prepares the skin for the subsequent steps of skin care, allowing the ingredients in lotions or concentrates to be better absorbed. A scrub should not be used more than 1 - 2 times per week.
How often can I apply a facial mask?
This depends both on the mask and on your skin type. Facial Scrubs / Cleansing Masks should, however, not be used more than 1 to 2 times per week, even for normal skin, as they could otherwise strain the skin’s natural protective barrier against acids. Cream Masks can be used more often.
What needs to be considered when caring for sensitive skin?
Take care that the INCI declaration (= the listing of ingredients contained in the cosmetic product) does not list any alcohol (INCI: ALCOHOL). Also be careful using strongly perfumed products and essential oils. Before using, do a patch test with the product on an inconspicuous spot on your arm. Do not apply the product to your face if you experience any irritation or other reaction on the arm.
Why do packets often contain single-portioned masks?
Packets with 1 or 2 chambers offer many advantages to the consumer compared to conventional tubes or jars. The most important thereof is certainly hygiene. The highly effective, concentrated ingredients are optimally protected from exposure to light and to bacterial contamination. That means that the product is sanitary and fresh for each new application. Another very consumer-friendly aspect is the price: production costs for packets are significantly less than for tubes or jars, meaning that masks sold in packets give you an excellent value for the money. The practical packets are also easy to tote, e. g. on holidays, while travelling, to the sauna, spa etc., without weighing you down.
Why is it important to use special eye-care products?
The skin around the eyes is thinner and more sensitive than the rest of the face. That’s why special formulations are developed just for this area (such as Schaebens Eye Contour Mask). Eye contour products alleviate fine expression lines, dark circles around the eyes and lachrymal sacs, and supply the skin with moisture. Eye contour products should not only be dermatologically tested, but also verified by an ophthalmologist.
What is the so-called INCI?
The INCI (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) is a term used to indicate the ingredients contained in a given cosmetic product. With the help of this uniform terminology, it is possible to identify product ingredients within any of the member states of the European Union. This standardised labelling allows consumers to identify ingredients that they may not tolerate or to which they may experience an allergic reaction. For further information on INCI, consult the IKW Homepage (the German Cosmetic & Toiletry Association) www.ikw.org.
How long is the shelf life of a cosmetic product?
Generally speaking, cosmetic products have a shelf life of at least 30 months from the day of their production. If the shelf life is less than 30 months, the packaging must include a “best-before” date. According to new European regulations as of March 2005, cosmetic products that do not have a “best-before” date on their label must have an indicator of their minimum shelf life after opening instead (provided they are used as directed). If you should ever notice a change in the consistency or fragrance of your cosmetic product, it could indicate a quality error and you should discontinue use immediately.
What are fruit acids?
Fruit acids are also known as Hydroxy acids or AHA fruit acids (Alpha Hydroxy Acids).   Glycol acid, lactic acid, malic acid, tartaric acid, citric acid and salicylic acid are often contained in cosmetic products. Alpha-Hydraulic acids do not only regulate the skin’s hydration level, but also stimulate cell metabolism and promote the natural exfoliation of the skin’s outer corneal layer.
What are liposomes?
Liposomes are microscopic, bubble-like vesicles, which are absorbed by the skin’s corneal layer due to their similarity with the natural cell membrane and then increase the skin’s ability to function as a barrier. They serve as a “Transport system” for sensitive active agents. Liposomes are particularly used in Anti-Aging skin care.
What is Urea?
Urea is the INCI designation for carbamide, an organic compound frequently found in creams for dry skin and for sensitive skin because of its excellent ability to bind moisture.
What is Q10 (co-enzyme Q10)?
Q10 is a co-enzyme naturally found in the body that is important for the energy production of each individual cell. The Q (1-10) co-enzymes are also called ubiquinone, according to the Latin “ubi” (everywhere) as these substances are found in all living cells. In cosmetics, Q10 is used to trap free radicals (antioxidants).
