Do special eye products make sense?

The skin around the eyes is thinner and more sensitive than the rest of the face. That’s why special formulations are developed just for this area (such as Schaebens Eye Contour Mask). Eye contour products alleviate fine expression lines, dark circles around the eyes and lachrymal sacs, and supply the skin with moisture. Eye contour products should not only be dermatologically tested, but also verified by an ophthalmologist.

Which masks are especially well-suited for impure skin?

Masks containing anti-bacterial ingredients such as tea tree oil or salicylic acids (as in Schaebens Anti-Spot Mask, for example) counteract pimples and skin impurities.  Masks containing Dead Sea mud are also reliable helpers against pimples, blackheads and skin impurities.   After using a mask, treat your skin with a facial toner and apply a non-comedogenic facial cream (creams that do not contribute to the formation of blackheads or pimples).  Peeling masks are also recommended as they deeply cleanse the skin’s pores.

Why should I use face masks?

Face masks are versatile all-round products. They are cleansing, toning, moisturise, reduce wrinkles, provide moisture and combat daily stress symptoms. They solve any skin problem, take care for a fresh complexion and provide an extra care. Face masks can optimize and complete daily care routines.

How often can I apply a facial mask?

You can use light wellness masks for relaxation as often as required. For anti-age products, a regular use (daily is best) is most important. There is no risk of doing too much, except for very rich formulations. Depending on your skin type, peeling and peel-off masks should not be used more than 1 to 2 times per week. Cream Masks can be used more often.

Sleeping beauty?

During the night, our skin is regenerating; cell division is at its maximum at that time. This process of recovery can be supported by using appropriate products, f. e. Schaebens Night Concentrate. Special night products are usually richer formulated than day care products. In the morning, skin will feel rested, fresh and perfectly maintained.

Dermatologically tested?

Extensive dermatological tests and effectiveness tests and/or surveys are carried out before a new cosmetic product is introduced. All of our products come equipped with what is known as a '5-star guarantee'. This means the highest safety and best effectiveness for our consumers.

We then conduct in-house 'open epicutaneous testing'. Under this testing, the product is openly applied to the skin as per product use recommendations, and researchers observe whether and how the condition of the skin changes. Only once a product has successfully passed these numerous tests is it approved for retail sale.e practical packets are also easy to tote, e. g. on holidays, while travelling, to the sauna, spa etc., without weighing you down.

Animal experiments?

The conduct of animal experiments in connection with finished cosmetic products has been prohibited in Germany since 1998 under the Animal Protection Act (§ 7 para. 5). Based on a recommendation by the Board of the IKW (the German Cosmetic, Toiletry, Perfumery and Detergent Association [Industrieverband Körperpflege- und Waschmittel e.V.]), animal experiments for finished cosmetic products had already been discontinued in 1989.

Naturally, we comply with the legislation currently in effect. We do not use animal testing to test our finished products or the raw materials they contain, nor do we commission such
animal testing by others.

What is the best age to start using anti-age products?

As early as your mid 20s, the skin gradually loses it ability to store moisture. The production of collagen and elastin slows down. The skin loses its firmness and elasticity.  The first fine lines begin to form.  Approximately from the age of 30 onwards, one can start using a purpose-made anti-wrinkle skin care (such as Schaebens Anti-Wrinkle Concentrate, or Schaebens Mature Skin Concentrate), to prevent premature skin-aging and to fight the effects of harmful environmental irritants

When should I use a moisturising care product?

Even young skin requires moisture. That’s why a hydrating cosmetic product is indispensable for your daily skin care. It regulates the skin’s hydration balance and makes the complexion feel soft and smooth. Masks and concentrates provide an extra helping of skin care and moisture (such as Schaebens Moisturising Mask or Schaebens Moisturising Concentrate).

A moisturising skin care treatment also provides relief for seasonal dry skin conditions. Particularly during the cold winter months, exposure to dry air from heaters and frequent changes between warm air and cold air strain the skin, which becomes dry or tense as a result. Special moisturising products compensate for this lack of hydration, and the skin remains supple and smooth.

What needs to be considered when caring for sensitive skin?

Take care that the INCI declaration (= the listing of ingredients contained in the cosmetic product) does not list any alcohol (INCI: ALCOHOL). Also be careful using strongly perfumed products and essential oils. Before using, do a patch test with the product on an inconspicuous spot on your arm. Do not apply the product to your face if you experience any irritation or other reaction on the arm.

Why do packets o When do I need to use a facial scrub?

Facial scrubs can leave pale and sallow skin looking brand new by deeply toning the pores.  Scrubs also help care for impure skin and clogged pores. When gently massaged on the skin’s surface, the scrub prepares the skin for the subsequent steps of skin care, allowing the ingredients in lotions or concentrates to be better absorbed. A scrub should not be used more than 1 - 2 times per week.

Why do packets often contain single-portioned masks?

Packets with 1 or 2 chambers offer many advantages to the consumer compared to conventional tubes or jars. The most important thereof is certainly hygiene. The highly effective, concentrated ingredients are optimally protected from exposure to light and to bacterial contamination. That means that the product is sanitary and fresh for each new application. Another very consumer-friendly aspect is the price: production costs for packets are significantly less than for tubes or jars, meaning that masks sold in packets give you an excellent value for the money. The practical packets are also easy to tote, e. g. on holidays, while travelling, to the sauna, spa etc., without weighing you down.

How long is the shelf life of a cosmetic product?

Generally speaking, cosmetic products have a shelf life of at least 30 months from the day of their production. If the shelf life is less than 30 months, the packaging must include a “best-before” date. According to new European regulations as of March 2005, cosmetic products that do not have a “best-before” date on their label must have an indicator of their minimum shelf life after opening instead (provided they are used as directed). Most Schaebens face masks are an exception to the rule as they are made for single use. If you should ever notice a change in the consistency or fragrance of your cosmetic product, it could indicate a quality error and you should discontinue use immediately.

Why Dead Sea Salt?

Dead Sea Salt is a true source of beauty. Its healing properties have been appreciated for over 2000 years. Its salt is particularly enriched with minerals, trace elements and vitamins.  It firms and revitalises the skin – an ancient beauty secret that remains just as well-treasured today. Our cosmetic products contain special combinations of active ingredients with salt or mud from the Dead Sea to moisturise the skin, deeply cleanse pores, counteract impurities and blemishes, or to help against dandruff – for pure and healthy skin.

What is the so-called INCI?

The INCI (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) is a term used to indicate the ingredients contained in a given cosmetic product. With the help of this uniform terminology, it is possible to identify product ingredients within any of the member states of the European Union. This standardised labelling allows consumers to identify ingredients that they may not tolerate or to which they may experience an allergic reaction. For further information on INCI, consult the IKW Homepage (the German Cosmetic & Toiletry Association) www.ikw.org.
